Siberian Tiger

The Siberian Tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) is the largest of the wild cats. There were once as many as nine subspecies of tiger but hunting and deforestation have reduced them to six. Roughly 4,000 tigers remain in the wild. Juvenile mortality rates are high and many do not survive past two years, but once matured they can live up to 20 years.
